The first years of training are a always the best.
So many gains, much muscle on chest.
Then comes the middle, injuries take over.
Hindering your form, muscles drunk, when sober.
Then come the rest days, that turn into weeks.
You’re getting stir crazy, quick sand gets deep.
You push the envelope, and return too soon.
First day back, shoulder pops like balloon.
You’re back on your sofa, regretting your decision.
Now stuffing your face, with shit from the kitchen.
Weeks off become months, abs turn to flab.
You’re hating your body, you’re constantly sad.
But do not fret young gun, you have much to learn.
Next time perform proper reps, and feel the burn.
Now you are wise, like Yoda you train.
You discover new muscle, you’d not think you’d gain.
The time is now, to pass on your wisdom.
Although you know, these noobs will not listen.
And there is the cycle, all lifters must pass.
